Ryan Cambron, Chris Farmer, Richard Gartenberg, Evan McFarlane and Jacob Thackray received the award, the highest rank in Scouting. Former state Attorney General Rob McKenna, an Eagle Scout himself, was the guest speaker at the ceremony.

Troop 626 draws Scouts from the south Bellevue area including Newport, Sammamish and International high schools.

Ryan Cambron began scouting at age 7. and has been an active member of Boy Scouts for the better part of his life. His future plans involved attending Western Washington University next fall and study graphic design in advertising. He also plans to continue to play music in bands and continue working to grow as a musician in the coming years.

Chris Farmer started his scouting journey in first grade as a Tiger Cub Scout at Puesta del Sol Elementary in Bellevue. He learned to speak fluent Spanish while attending the Spanish Immersion Program.

He joined the Boy Scouts and Troop 626 when he was 11. He is a sophomore at Interlake High School where he plays football.

For the future, he is considering college or the military.

Richard Gartenberg started scouting as a Tiger cub and has been in scouts every year since then, even the three years when he was living in England.

He has been on a 100-mile hike, learned to swim and eventually joined the school’s water polo and swim teams. He most recently become a member of the school’s DECA (marketing) state competition.

Evan McFarlane also began scouting as a Tiger cub. He dropped out for a few years, but rejoined scouting in the sixth grade.

For his Eagle project, he led a group of fellow scouts and friends in clearing and cleaning-up a trail in the Newcastle Historic Cemetery.

Outside of Boy Scouts, he is involved in boxing and wrestling at Newport High School. After graduation, he plan to attend either Western Washington University or Linfield College in Oregon and is interested in studying business and economics, and plan to major in marketing and minor in Spanish.

Jacob Thackray joined scouting at age 11. He has completed many hours of community service and has completed such scouting activities as a 102-mile hike at Phlimont in New Mexico and a 75-mile canoe trip at Lake Bowron in Canada.

He is a senior at Newport High School and has been in a Spanish Immersion program since kindergarten and can read, write, and speak Spanish fluently. In college, he wants to pursue majors in economics, business, or engineering, but have not yet decided on which.
