Five vie for open seat on Issaquah School District board

Five candidates have applied for the open position on the Issaquah School District board of directors. Board member Chad Magendanz resigned his position on Wednesday, Jan. 9.

Five candidates have applied for the open position on the Issaquah School District board of directors.

Board member Chad Magendanz resigned his position on Wednesday, Jan. 9. In November, Magendanz was elected to the Washington State House representing district 5. He served on the ISD board from October 2008 until he was elected to the State House.

The new appointee will serve the remainder of his term, until November of this year, representing director district 4 which spans the majority of the Issaquah downtown corridor, the Issaquah Highlands, Preston, Mirrormont, Tiger Mountain and the district’s southeast corner.

The five candidates are Lisa Callan, Margo Campbell, Alison Meryweather, Justin Park and Justin Rolfe. All must reside within the boundaries of district 4.

Interviews will be held Wednesday, March 6, at the administration building, 565 N.W. Holly St. The public is invited to attend. The interviews have been scheduled for 6 p.m. Second-level interviews, if necessary, are scheduled for Wednesday, March 20.
