Fourth on the Plateau goes off with a bang

It was the middle of the week, but that didn't prevent a big turnout at Sammamish's Fourth on the Plateau.

It was the middle of the week, but that didn’t prevent a big turnout at Sammamish’s Fourth on the Plateau.

More than 10,000 people attended the sixth annual event last week, celebrating with live music, food, kids activities and, of course, fireworks.

“Everything went really well,” said Joanna Puthoff, a facility coordinator for Sammamish and event’s organizer. “With it being in middle of the week people kind of showed up a little later than before, but the turnout was great.”

Attendees were able to hang out on the Upper Commons for the live sounds of Soul Purpose and Shelley and the Curves before settling down on blankets and chairs to enjoy the fireworks.

Close to 80 citizens volunteered at the event.

“We had a lot of great volunteers and a lot of great sponsors,” Puthoff said. “Without them this would never happen.”
