Free kids bike rodeo set May 18

Recology CleanScapes, the city of Issaquah and Bike Works will present a Kids Bike Rodeo from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday, May 18.

Recology CleanScapes, the city of Issaquah and Bike Works will present a Kids Bike Rodeo from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday, May 18.

The event, at Pickering Barn, 1730 10th Ave. N.W., will have free bike safety checks and helmet fittings, a bike safety and skills course, music, raffles and refreshments. Free helmets will be available for children in need. Those who donate a used bicycle will receive a raffle ticket. Children can bring their own refillable water bottle for a raffle ticket.

Since 2010, Recology CleanScapes has saved more than 8,000 bicycles from landfills through its partnership with Bike Works, a local nonprofit that refurbishes bikes to be sold or donated locally and internationally. The Kids Bike Rodeo is a zero waste, zero cost event.
