Homeless looking for a warm place to sleep | The Blotter

The following information was compiled from City of Issaquah police reports:

Police encountered at least four homeless men, some drunk, sleeping throughout Issaquah in the since Nov. 13.

One man was found sleeping inside a fast food restaurant on Gilman Boulevard. When officers woke him, he was said he was just looking for a warm place to sleep.

That same night, officers pulled a drunk homeless man off a bus. He told them he had no other place to go, and agreed to get off the bus to find a shelter.

Police found another man sleeping on a park bench behind a restaurant on Front Street. When the office woke him up, he told them he didn’t want to return to Seattle. The officer warned the man not to drink or camp in public places.


Wildlife in Issaquah

Several deer were struck by cars and either injured or killed in the past week.

Two of the deer were hit and died on Highlands Drive, including a buck. In one case, Nov. 14, the officer dragged the carcass off the roadway, and another wildlife officers got to the animal first.

Two other deer were injured, one clearly had a broken leg but escaped from police.


No road here

Police arrested a man who was so drunk that he was driving his car across street parking spots on Front Street North as if they were his own lane Nov. 4.

An officer followed the man, as his car weaved in the road, running over median turtles. When the driver turned his van onto Crescent Way, the officer initiated a traffic stop.

The man pulled over, and then started driving backward. The officer had to turn on his lights to get him to stop. When the officer approached, the man had problems opening his window, so he opened the whole door.

He admitted to the officer that he had a couple shots of tequila at a local bar, before attempting to drive to his home in Sammamish. The officer pointed out that he had driven into a dead end.

As the man got out of the car, the officer noted that he reeked of alcohol and had problems standing. The man declined to take field DUI tests, and said he had trouble walking from a medical disorder.

Leaf me alone

Police told a man who raking leaves for free outside the entrance of Providence Point on Nov. 13 that he needed to stop.

The man told police he liked the exercise, but the officer cautioned that he was much too close to the busy street. They told him to stay on the other side of the guardrail, and he responded that he’d be done in about an hour.

 

Tagged

A homeowner reported that a retaining wall on her private piece of property was tagged with graffiti Nov. 3.

She called police two weeks after noticing it, and agreed to clean it up immediately from the 23600 block of Southeast Black Nugget Road.
