The Issaquah Amateur Radio Club will work around the clock on the weekend of June 26 and 27 to contact hundreds of other operators in the US and Canada as part of the American Radio Relay League’s (ARRL) annual Field Day. Field Day is sponsored by the ARRL’s National Field Organization for setting up and making emergency communications.

The ARRL Field Organization has been effective in establishing emergency communications during floods, hurricanes, fires, earthquakes and other major disasters. Some members of the Issaquah ARC also belong to the Issaquah Ham Radio Support Group that reports to the Issaquah Police Department and supports Issaquah’s Emergency Manager with backup communications when needed.

The Field Day operation will be held at the Sunny Hills Elementary School playground. Set up begins at 9 a.m., with the goal of getting on the air at 11 a.m.

The public is invited to come by anytime and see the operation. For more information phone John MacDuff at 425-392-7623.
