Issaquah City Hall, Senior Center among snow closures

UPDATE: The city of Issaquah announced early Monday afternoon that the Issaquah City Council meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. that evening, which included Mayor Fred Butler’s State of the City address, would be moved to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 8.

A portion of West Lake Sammamish Parkway between 188th Avenue Southeast and 192nd Avenue Southeast is closed due to a tree that fell on power lines. The city of Issaquah announced that there is a detour in place, but that there is no estimate on when the stretch of road will re-open. Additionally, Southeast 56th Street between East Lake Sammamish Parkway Southeast and 230th Avenue Southeast is also closed due to a downed tree, with no estimate of when it will re-open.

The city of Issaquah announced Monday morning that Issaquah City Hall will be closed for the entirety of the day on Monday due to the snow.

Other city-run institutions, including the Issaquah Senior Center, the Issaquah Community Center and the Julius Boehm Pool will be closed, and all Parks and Recreation programs have been cancelled for the day.

The Issaquah Highlands Council offices and Blakely Hall are closed, though the staff will be working remotely over email and phone. Eastside Baby Corner and the Issaquah Food and Clothing Bank are also closed for the day.

The Issaquah School District announced Sunday night that all schools would be closed on Monday.

The city has been working to clear roadways of snow this morning, with a focus on priority 1 routes, the city announced. Priority 1 roads include Southeast 43rd Way, 225th Avenue Southeast, Issaquah-Fall City Road, Northeast Park Drive, Northeast Highlands Drive, Mountain Park Boulevard Southwest, Northwest Talus Drive, Seventh Avenue Northeast, Eighth Avenue Northeast and Ninth Avenue Northeast.

The city encourages residents not to drive unless absolutely necessary, and also asks drivers who become stuck in the snow not to abandon their vehicles in a place that would block traffic, as such vehicles will be towed.
