Issaquah designates Reporter as official newspaper

The Issaquah City Council unanimously voted on Monday to designate the Issaquah-Sammamish Reporter as the city's official newspaper of record and publisher of the city of Issaquah's legal notices.

The Issaquah City Council unanimously voted on Monday to designate the Issaquah-Sammamish Reporter as the city’s official newspaper of record and publisher of the city of Issaquah’s legal notices.

”The editor, reporters, advertising representatives, creative, circulation, management and admin staff of the Issaquah-Sammamish Reporter are honored by this designation, and by the trust that the city of Issaquah has given us,” said William Shaw, Reporter publisher. “As a longtime Issaquah resident with family connections to Issaquah and Monohan that go back over 100 years, as publisher I am particularly pleased.”

The Reporter replaces the city’s longtime newspaper of record, the Issaquah Press.

The city issued a formal request for proposals on April 22 regarding the city’s official newspaper of record and publication of legal notices. The city provided the proposal to the Reporter, the Issaquah Press, Seattle Times and the Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce.

The city evaluated respondents on their quality of proposals, pricing and costs, qualifications and references, customer service and overall fit with the city.

The ordinance the city adopted is effective July 1.
