Buildings may be falling at Issaquah High School, but no one is under fire for destruction of school property — Cornerstone General Contractors, Inc. began demolishing some of the buildings Wednesday, April 15 in preparation for the rebuild.

Buildings J and M were completely torn down, and crews began demolition on the inside of the gym. A complete tear-down of that building won’t happen until after a Monday, April 20 ceremony commemorating the occasion.

Construction crews began surveying and prepping the site March 25, after Cornerstone was awarded the contract for $61.5 million.

However, work on the new buildings won’t begin until the contractor receives final construction permits from the city.
