Issaquah was named as a Tree City USA for the nineteenth year in a row.

It was named among 83 other states that earned the qualification, which also requires cities to have ordinances encouraging the city’s tree canopy, to celebrate Arbor Day and to spend at least $2 per capita on tree care – about $60,000 for Issaquah.

The city is celebrating Arbor Day from 11 a.m.-noon, April 21 with a tree planting along Issaquah Creek and Pickering Trail.

To plant, check in before the event at the Pickering Trail entrance, 1730 10th Ave. N.W.
