Issaquah Police ‘Adopt’ Family for Christmas

Celebrating the Christmas spirit of giving, the Issaquah Police Department (IPD) continued their annual tradition of partnering with Santa and providing a bit of holiday cheer to a local family.

On Dec. 22, IPD staff members assisted Santa with the delivery of presents to a single-parent family of five children. Police staff gave a nod to IPD Traffic Officer John Lindner (aka Santa) for his help.

“A wide range of gifts were chosen and paid for by police employees (including police officers and department staff),” wrote City of Issaquah spokesperson Autumn Monahan. “The project is just one of the many ways our police department supports our local community.”

This is the third year that IPD has “adopted” a family. “Head Elf” (911 dispatcher Jacqui Kerness) once again organized the event, with assistance from School Resource Officer Karin Weihe.

The family requested their identity be kept private.
