Issaquah police detectives arrested a 25-year-old Issaquah man, who has been charged with two counts of child molestation in the first degree and one count of indecent exposure with sexual motivation.

The suspect, Jeremiah L. Helfer, was arrested near his home on Newport Way Oct. 16, and is being held at the King County Jail.

Although he is known to have worked or volunteered with various organizations in the area that would have put him in contact with juveniles, the investigation so far indicates that the crimes are isolated to this suspect and victim in private homes.

The victim in the case is an 11-year-old juvenile who is not related to the suspect.

Detectives are continuing to investigate. Detective Brian Horn with IPD said they are hoping and praying it’s just a one-time offense. Helfer was not listed as a sexual offender.
