Issaquah Reporter debuts new police blotter on GoogleMaps

The Issaquah Reporter is experimenting with GoogleMaps, an online interactive mapping resource supported by Google, to support the newspaper’s weekly police blotter.

Instead of a simple listing the selection of calls, the interactive map also allows the information relating to the call to be placed on the map itself.

The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of calls to the Issaquah Police Department. All calls listed, which run from Monday through Sunday, are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Issaquah Reporter Police Blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls. In addition, the names of individuals arrested are not released because those arrested are not yet charged with a crime.

Between Oct. 12-18, the Issaquah Police Department reported 255 calls including 28 car accidents, 18 suspicious events, 13 thefts, 11 public drunkenness incidents, 10 false alarms and eight acts of fraud. At least 13 people were arrested.
