A series of storms is expected to roll through the Puget Sound region Thursday through Saturday.

Power outages are a distinct possibility, and city and school district officials are urging residents to make certain you are prepared at home.

According to a notice from the city of Sammamish, the National Weather Service forecast for Sammamish is calling for substantial rains and intermittently heavy winds through Friday night. Winds gusts could reach as high as 33 mph on Thursday and as high as 50 mph on Thursday night.

The Issaquah School District sent a notice to parents and students that it will communicate information about power outages at schools through a number of methods.

“Keep in mind our schools and administration building and staff may also be affected by power, phone and internet outages, in turn affecting our ability to post information on our website or through E-News,” according to the district E-News letter. “Our smart phones will be charged up so that we may send alerts should we lose power or internet services. We post to Twitter at @IssaquahSchools and Facebook www.facebook.com/IssaquahSchools. Families may also sign up to receive FlashAlert texts at www.FlashAlert.net and select Issaquah School District from the menu.”
