Looking at the vast array of gifts for kids of all ages at Pickering Barn Tuesday, you can’t say Issaquah isn’t a generous community.

Looking at the vast array of gifts for kids of all ages at Pickering Barn Tuesday, you can’t say Issaquah isn’t a generous community.

Everything from new bicycles, Barbies, Transformers, an entire wall of Teddy bears, adorable brand-new baby clothes, warm coats, trendy shoes, nail polish and other beauty items, board games and more were on display.

A group of pre-school children from Evergreen Academy brought in over $500 worth of toys that they had picked out themselves. Each child placed their gift very purposefully into boxes for volunteers from the Issaquah Food and Clothing Bank to put on display.

Issaquah Food and Clothing Bank put on the event, called “Caring Through Sharing.” Program coordinator, Rebecca Raynor, said 971 children were signed up to receive gifts. That amounts to just over 400 families, she said.

The merchandise is all brand new, donated from local community members and businesses.

Wednesday and Thursday parents from each of the families who signed up, were able to pick out four to five toys for their children, not including stocking stuffers, which were also available in abundance.
