Sophomore pole vaulter Eva Perry set a new IHS school record, winning her event in 11 feet, 4 inches. She broke Kiki Sugano’s old record of 11-3, set in 2001. The Eagles also earned multiple victories from Kelley Chen and Haley Jacobson. Chen won the discus (83-0) and javelin (106-3), while Jacobson was first in the 100 meters (12.8 seconds) and 200 (26.2).

Other first-place finishers for the Eagles included Arielle Walton (1,600), Jocelyn Eng (3,200), Lauren Bruner (300 hurdles), Carson Powers (shot put), Ngozi Monu (high jump) and Mackenzie Bauer (triple jump). The 400 and 800 relays were also victorious.

Thursday’s meet came down to the final event for the Issaquah and Liberty boys. The Patriots edged the Eagles in the 1,600 relay by 2.1 seconds (3:30.0) to take the meet.

The Issaquah boys had six individuals and one relay finished first Thursday.

Winners included Kyle Farmer (100), Alexander Farmer (200), Kevin Lemond (800), Chris Brasino (1,600), Dennis Leigh (3,200) and Jason Hollaway (pole vault). The 400 relay also took first.

Skyline athletes claim battle on the Plateau

The Skyline boys and girls track and field teams both recorded dual meet victories over rival Eastlake Thursday afternoon at EHS.

The Spartan boys edged the Wolves 81-62 behind senior Alex Lee’s victories in the 100 meters (10.8 seconds) and 400 (50.3).

Other Skyline winners included Garret Corlis (discus), Devyn Heimbeck (javelin), Blake Digiovanni (high jump), Riley Herrera (110 hurdles), Ian Melendez (300 hurdles), Dustin Bratten (200) and the Keegan Symmes (3,200). The Spartan 1,600 relay also won.

Eastlake earned double victories from Devin Bennett in the long jump (20-feet, 4 inches) and triple jump (41-6 1/2). Other winners for the Wolves included Austin Reifeis (shot put), Sean Ross (pole vault), Paul Kupcis (800) and Beau Wales (1,600). Eastlake’s 400 relay team also finished first.

The Skyline girls defeated Eastlake 102-47 with the help of Haley Ziegler’s sweep in the throwing events. She won the shot put (31-6), discus (97-9) and javelin (109-3).

Sydne Tingey, Amber Dodd and Shealee O’Donnell also won multiple events for the Spartans. Tingey took the high jump (4-10) and long jump (15-2), Dodd won the 100 hurdles (16.2) and 300 hurdles (47.0), while O’Donnell won the 100 (12.8) and 200 (25.7).

Michelle Bretl won the 400 (1:01.9), while Spartans swept first place finishes in the 400, 800 and 1,600 relays.

Eastlake earned victories from Carlye Skinner (triple jump), Grace Robison (pole vault), Katelyn Steen (800), Morgan O’Connor (1,600) and Chelsea Orr (3,200).
