Issaquah High School Social Studies Teacher Jeremy Ritzer will be spending part of his summer break in Washington DC. That might not seem unusual for a government and history teacher, but Ritzer’s July trip will be to attend the C-SPAN Classroom’s 2010 Educator’s Conference.

He was one of only 30 educators selected for the two-day conference from a pool of nearly 100 social studies teachers across the country who submitted essays on how they use C-SPAN Classroom media resources in their curriculum.

C-SPAN Classroom is a free membership service that provides teachers with social studies-related media resources, and has been sponsoring summer educator programs for 10 years. This year’s conference will focus on ways to inspire students to become more informed citizens and to give teachers the tools to improve social studies education.
