Issaquah residents who want to make an impact on the environment should turn off their lights Saturday March 28, between 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. for “Earth Hour.”

Earth Hour is a movement organized by the World Wildlife Fund to raise awareness about climate change, and encourage business, individuals and governments to take action to reduce their carbon emissions.

Issaquah Mayor Ava Frisinger is urging all Issaquah citizens and businesses to turn off their non-essential lighting for the hour.

More than 50 million people in over 1,000 cities all over the world turned off their lights during Earth Hour 2008, including many major icons, such as the Sydney Opera House, the Coliseum in Rome, the Empire State Building and the Golden Gate Bridge.
