Jan Hubatch-Smith, of Issaquah, a physical therapist with Providence Home Services, has been named “Hero of the Year” by the Home Care Association of Washington for her dedication to working with her patients, their families, caregivers and physicians.

Hubatch-Smith, faced with challenging weather conditions, reached her patient’s home across a washed out road by asking to ride with a person operating a backhoe nearby.

“She is fearless driving through snow, flooded areas, and ice to reach a rural patient’s home, even if it means getting stuck and having to call for assistance,” said Carrie Hayne, vice president of Providence Home Services.

“She is an inspiration to patients and staff alike,” “She never loses hope and provides the most optimal treatment to every patient every visit. We are proud to have her on our care team.”
