A middle-school boy suffered minor scrapes and a bump on the side of his head after being hit by a car while walking to school Tuesday morning. The incident took place at Newport Way Southwest and Front Street South. He was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
Patrol Sgt. Jeff Johnson, who responded, said the youngster said he had the right to cross, but the driver said she had a green light.
The accident is still under investigation. The boy is doing fine.
