Volunteers dedicate a few weeknights in June and July to research, interview, and rate candidates. As a volunteer, they must refrain from active involvement in campaigns or political parties during the election season and must step aside from the ratings process if they have connections to any candidate in any particular race.

Candidate ratings are based on four criteria – knowledge, involvement, effectiveness and character – as well as each candidate’s potential to serve their community. The ratings are not based on a candidate’s political affiliations or policy positions and provide King County voters with a non-partisan view so that they may make an informed choice in the primary and general elections.

Volunteer applications are due June 3 and may be submitted online at www.munileague.org.
