A proposed development near East Lake Sammamish Parkway, Southeast 56th Street and Black Nugget road in Issaquah may include seven buildings and as much as 118,000 square feet of new commercial space, plans show.

The Overlake Center is drawing closer to its next hurdle, a public hearing on Aug. 27.

Plans call for 550 parking stalls plus an additional 24,000 square feet of underground parking.

The developer, OB Frank Properties, has submitted plans to the city and undergone an environmental review process.

Tenants for the seven buildings thus far include a 24-Hour Fitness, a Bartell Drugs, a daycare center, extended offices for Overlake Hospital, along with space for offices, restaurants and other businesses, according to Jerry Lind, senior planner for Issaquah’s building department.

If everything goes as planned, the openings are set for next summer, developer Dale Frank said.

“They just went through the environmental review,” Lind said. “We mailed out notice to the neighbors.”

The center will be built on a 13.3-acre site that currently houses three older metal buildings and a small office building, which will be retained.

The proposal by OB Frank Properties also includes restoration to wetlands in the area, including the removal of fill from the wetlands and stream that was previously placed there.

The public is allowed to comment up until the public hearing at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall South on Aug. 27. Comments can be submitted to Jerry Lind, City of Issaquah Planning Department, P.O. Box 1307, Issaquah, WA 98027 or by e-mail to jerryl@ci.issaquah.wa.us.
