Overlake to host cancer prevention event

Overlake Hospital Medical Center will host a health and wellness event designed to highlight the number of ways people can prevent cancer and other chronic diseases through smart lifestyle choices. The free event, called Learn and Live Well, will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Eastridge Church, 24205 SE Issaquah-Fall City Road in Issaquah.

 

Overlake Hospital Medical Center will host a health and wellness event designed to highlight the number of ways people can prevent cancer and other chronic diseases through smart lifestyle choices. The free event, called Learn and Live Well, will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Eastridge Church, 24205 SE Issaquah-Fall City Road in Issaquah.

The event includes keynote speaker Zonya Foco, RD, a nationally recognized author, speaker and television host who will teach attendees how to Fight Cancer with Your Fork. Foco will offer tips on cancer-fighting foods, and share how to select and prepare them for optimum health and well-being.

Additional wellness seminars will be presented by experts from Overlake and the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. The presentations include:

Making time: A beginner’s guide to meditation for reducing stress and improving health.

Don’t make it a marathon: Tips and techniques for making exercise easy.

The event will also feature an “Ask the doc” booth, free food samples, giveaways and more.

Pre-registration is not required, however all attendees who pre-register will automatically be entered into a special prize drawing at the event. Winners must be present to win. Pre-register by calling 425-688-5259 or on the Overlake web site.
