Overnight snow closes roads, leaves residents without power | Update

Overnight snow has left thousands without power and led to several road closures in the local area.

Puget Sound Energy reported nearly 4,000 customers in Sammamish and 500 customers in Issaquah were without power as of Monday morning.

The city of Sammamish reported several roads were closed due to down power lines, including Sahalee Way at Northeast 37th Way, 244th Avenue Northeast at Highway 202 and Northeast 16th Street near East Sammamish Park. The city also reported a partial blockage near the 4600 block on East Lake Sammamish Parkway.

The Issaquah School District closed all schools and canceled all school-related activities on Monday due to snow and hazardous driving conditions. The closure includes all before- and after-school activities, including sports.

The Lake Washington School District closed its schools and canceled all programs, activities and building uses on Monday. Eastside Catholic also closed.

In Issaquah, all city offices are closed as well as the Issaquah Community Center, the Julius Boehm Pool and Issaquah Senior Center. All Parks and Recreation programming has been canceled.

All Sammamish city parks and the Sammamish Community Center were closed Monday. Garbage and recycling services in Issaquah and Sammamish were canceled as well.

UPDATE 1:03 p.m.

The city of Sammamish reports Sahalee Way and 244th Avenue Northeast have reopened, while 212th Avenue Southeast is closed in both directions just south of Southeast 24th Street. Fallen trees have narrowed portions of East Lake Sammamish Parkway. The Puget Sound Energy outage map shows nearly 2,000 Sammamish residents and nearly 700 Issaquah residents are experiencing power outages as of Monday afternoon. Puget Sound Energy is urging its customers to report their outages by calling 888-225-5773.

Sammamish is keeping a list of fallen trees and other problems that need to be addressed. Residents who have something to report are encouraged to call the city at 425-295-0500 or call 911 to report problems.
