On Tuesday night firefighters from Eastside Fire and Rescue spent several hours battling a blaze which eventually consumed a house near Tiger Mountain.

They were called to the fire on the 14500 block of 254th Avenue S.E. by several neighbors who reported that a house was on fire and that the owners still inside.

However a nearby neighbor that had driven the family to the airport earlier that day was able to confirm that no one was inside the burning house.

Heavy smoke and flames were visible from the street when fire crews first arrived on scene.

Firefighters attempted to make entry through the front portion of the home before hazardous conditions forced crews to cease operations due to power lines on the ground arcing and a partial collapse of the structure.

Puget Sound Energy was called to the scene for assistance, as well as a fire investigator with the King County Fire Marshal’s Office.

Narrow roads, icy conditions, and a lack of fire hydrants in the area further challenged firefighting efforts.

Water tenders had to shuttle water into the area to fight the fire.

There were no injuries reported and the fire remains under investigation at this time.
