A paraglider plummeted to his death after his wing collapsed on the southwest side of Squak Mountain Sunday night.

The 53-year-old Renton wan about 40-50 feet above the ground gliding in what appeared to be a thermal current, when witnesses saw his wing twist and spin out of control, according to the King County Sheriff’s office.

He crashed into a pasture, where witnesses and firefighters gave him CPR. He died at the scene.
