Phone scammer asks for donation posing as police officer

On Wednesday, Nov. 11, the Issaquah Police Department received a report from a citizen that someone posing as an Issaquah Police Officer was soliciting donations over the phone.

On Wednesday, Nov. 11, the Issaquah Police Department received a report from a citizen that someone posing as an Issaquah Police Officer was soliciting donations over the phone.

According to a release from the department Thursday morning, the citizen said the caller identified himself as a Issaquah Police Officer and asked for a cash donation for “a child licensing event.”

The citizen did not give the caller a donation but instead called the Issaquah Police Department.

The Issaquah Police Department wants to remind citizens that we do not solicit contributions over the phone for any reason.

Citizens should never make contributions or provide financial information to such phone solicitations.

Citizens should try to get as much information as possible from the caller and report the incident to the Police Department.

There are no investigative leads to this report at this time.
