Plateau Spirits & Wine to close Sept. 15

Owners of Plateau Spirits & Wine, located in the Sammamish Highlands Shopping Center, announced they will shut their doors for good in a few weeks.

Owners of Plateau Spirits & Wine, located in the Sammamish Highlands Shopping Center, announced they will shut their doors for good in a few weeks.

“We will be closing our store on Sept. 15, due to lease conflicts but we still love to keep business in Plateau area,” said store owners, in a statement.

Jin Kim purchased the store rights for slightly over $200,000 during a state auction in April 2012. With the passing of Initiative 1183 — the privatization of liquor sales — Washington auctioned off all its state-run liquor stores.

Kim and her husband opened the newly named Plateau Spirits & Wine in June 2012, focusing on more specialized liquors.

The owners said in a statement, they would like to reopen the store somewhere else in Sammamish, but aren’t sure if is any availability.

“If by chance any of our loyal and dear customers are aware of a space please contact me via email (plateauspirits@gmail.com). We really appreciate your support and we love you.”

Sammamish’s Ace Hardware recently closed its doors, citing high rent in the Sammamish Highlands Shopping Center as the major obstacle. The property is owned by Florida-based Regency Centers.
