And then there were two.

The 45th Legislative District race, the only contested primary race in Sammamish, ended Tuesday night with incumbent Roger Goodman (D) earning 48.83 percent of the vote and Joel Hussey (R) taking 44.02 percent.

Jacob Bond (D) finished well behind with 7.15 percent of the vote.

In the district’s other race Larry Springer(D) pulled in 55.71 percent of the vote with Jim Thatcher (R) earning 44.29 percent.

The district includes areas in Sammamish north of Southeast Eighth Street as well as parts of Redmond, Woodinville and Kirkland.

In the newly drawn 41st District, which includes the southern half of Sammamish along with Bellevue, State Sen. Steve Litzlow (R) pulled in 57.89 percent of the vote. Maureen Judge (D) earned 42.11 percent of the vote.

Marcie Maxwell (D) finished with 56.46 percent of the vote, ahead of Republican Tim Eaves (43.54).

The 5th Legislative District, which includes most of Issaquah, also featured a contested race. Chad Magendanz (R) earned 52.41 percent of the vote, with David Spring (D) earning 42.51 percent.

Ryan Dean Burkett finished a distant third with only 5.08 percent of the vote.

Issaquah City Councilman Mark Mullet (D) finished ahead in the State Senate race with 52.73 percent of the vote ahead of Republican Brad Toft, who tallied 47.27 percent.

Due to the state’s all-mail balloting system, vote counting will continue through Aug. 20. Results will be finalized on Aug. 21.
