PTSA honors top Issaquah and Sammamish volunteers

The Parents Teacher and Student Association gave Acorn awards to its top volunteers in the Issaquah School District March 29.

The Parents Teacher and Student Association gave Acorn awards to its top volunteers in the Issaquah School District March 29.

Most of the winners were nominated by PTSA boards. For the whole district Alison Meryweather, Leigh Stokes and Leslie Warrick were given outstanding advocate awards.

Rajeev Goel recieved the “Golden Acorn” award, and Janine Kotan won the Outstanding Service Award.

Issaquah High School chose Karin Allen, Dianne Bugge, Lisa Gaan and Mark Vahn. Skyline named Sara Blessington and Caroline Brown.

Beaver Lake Middle School named Judy Babb, Kim Fancher and Deb Smith; Issaquah Middle, Camille Vaska; Pacific Cascade, Stacy Heller, Donna McLeod and Audrey Winslow; Pine Lake Middle, Stephanie Benz, Diane Laucius, Karin Plastina and Katie Reeves.

Most of the winners volunteer at elementary schools. They include Tammy Filer and Carrie Koperski from Apollo; Leslie Kahler and Barbara Potts from Briarwood; Jaycee Cooper, Monica Futty, Rajeev Goel, Chrisann Penz and Diana Verrue from Cascade Ridge; Elizabeth Bania, Jennifer Good and Ruth Steck from Challenger; Kassandra Mitchell, Tracy Silva from Clark; Mary Adkins, Blyth Claeys, Sally Feldman and Jennifer Goldberg from Cougar Ridge; Jackie Firth, Ina Ghangurde and Kavitha Kumar from Creekside; Chelsea Dziedzic, Lynn Hickman, Tasha Kitby and Shannon Ptacek from Discovery; Sarah Fulford, Dawn Heiberg, Stacy O’Daffer and Julie Spieker from Endeavour.

They also include Nancy Castonguay, Theora Dalupan, Leslie Warrick, Kristen Wisdom from Grand Ridge; Dan Chernin, Colleen Gurkin, Ana Inman, Kerri Jensen from Issaquah Valley; and Molly Caskey and Kim George from Maple Hills.
