A community celebration will be held Jan. 9 from 5-8 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn, 1800 N.W. Gilman Blvd., to honor former mayor Ava Frisinger for her service to Issaquah.

Frisinger served as mayor for 16 years and has lived in Issaquah for more than 40 years. She first took office as mayor in January 1998, and was re-elected in 2001, 2005 and 2009.

In addition to serving as mayor, Frisinger is a member of numerous regional committees, commissions and boards. She is president of the executive board of Friends of the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery and, time permitting, volunteers as a docent at the hatchery when the salmon return in the fall.

Come and enjoy hors d’oeuvres and share stories.
