Issaquah Police have released more details of the incident in which a woman was allegedly raped, and the perpetrator beaten by two men in Issaquah in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police are continuing to investigate the alleged rape and assault, which police responded to at about 2 a.m. May 23, 2010 at a residence in the 400 block of Northeast Birch Street.

According to a press released issued by Issaquah Police on Monday afternoon, the following has been reported to police so far.

The rape victim and suspect were acquaintances, as they were with the same group of people that evening, first at the house and later at a local bar. The rape victim then left the bar, due to being ill, and returned to the house.

The rape suspect was also at the bar, but left and returned to the house at an unknown time. The victim and suspect were alone in the house at the time of the incident.

Through a friend, who received a phone call from the rape victim, the two assault suspects (one of whom was the husband of the rape victim) heard of the alleged rape and returned to the house.

When the two assault suspects confronted the suspect back at the house, he was asleep on the couch. When the suspect awoke, the two men allegedly assaulted him with a mallet and brick.

Charges against the rape suspect are pending. Due to the suspect’s severe injuries, he is not able to be interviewed at this time.

Both of the assault suspects were booked into the King County Jail on charges of Assault in the First Degree.
