Sammamish businesses pass alcohol sting

Sammamish Police and Washington State Liquor Control agents conducted a sting in the city June 13, using a 19-year-old male to try and buy alcohol from area businesses. All 15 businesses checked passed the test.

 

Sammamish Police and Washington State Liquor Control agents conducted a sting in the city June 13, using a 19-year-old male to try and buy alcohol from area businesses. All 15 businesses checked passed the test.

The sting was conducted as part of the Sammamish Impaired Driving Education and Action (IDEA) project, a communitywide initiative to eliminate underage impaired driving in the city. The project started after statistics showed a high percentage of DUI arrests in the city were of youth under age 21.

All 15 businesses passed and Sammamish Police would like to recognize the the following businesses and their employees: Trader Joes, Bartell Drugs, Safeway, M.O.D. Pizza, Sammamish Highlands 76, Pine Lake Ale House, Ristorante Simone, Plateau Shell, Lanponi Thai, Jackson Shell, QFC, Rite Aid, La Casita, August Moon and Hungry Bear Market (Chevron).
