Central Washington University — named one of the parties interested in leasing the former Mars Hill property in Sammamish — released a survey asking residents to help identify the plateau’s need for higher education.

“As part of their due diligence, the city and the university are reaching out to residents of Sammamish to identify the community’s needs and goals regarding higher education,” according to a city press release.

The Sammamish City Council purchased the building for $6.1 million, with the intention of turning it into a higher education hub.

The building, located at 120 228th Ave. NE, has been vacant for about a year. Though, Sammamish city officials have been meeting with several interested entities, City Manager Lyman Howard said.

Howard revealed the university as a leading potential occupant last week at the City Council meeting.
