Fun on the Plateau will not be in short supply this weekend, as Sammamish Days and Sammamish Nights return Saturday, Aug. 22.

Fun on the Plateau will not be in short supply this weekend, as Sammamish Days and Sammamish Nights return Saturday, Aug. 22.

During the day, residents can expect cultural entertainment, free activities for children and more than 20 vendors and food trucks.

The events will be located at the Sammamish Commons Plaza, between city hall and the library off of 228th Avenue Southeast.

Put on by the city of Sammamish, city staff expect a few thousand people to attend the event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Parking is limited at city hall and the library. The majority of parking is available at Mary, Queen of Peace at 1121 228th Ave. S.E. There is a trail from the church to the plaza.

For a schedule of stage events visit www.sammamish.us/events/Default.aspx?ID=3434.

A little later in the evening, Sammamish Nights will take over the plaza from 6:30-10 p.m.

This is “when the kids go home and the adults come out,” Executive Director of the Sammamish Chamber of Commerce Deb Sogge said.

In its seventh year, the chamber puts on the evening event, which was “born out of the need to have an adult venue” in the city, Sogge said.

Prepaid tickets are $45 per person. Tickets at the door are $55 per person. Attendees must be at least 21 years old to attend.

The ticket price includes wine, beer and spirit tasting. Attendees will also have the opportunity to try food from local restaurants, while they are entertained by the live band, “Shelley and the Curves.”

The chamber is partnering with the Sammamish Arts Commission to give attendees a preview of the October 2015 Sammamish Arts Fair.

Last year the chamber had close to 400 attendees. Sogge hopes to have a similar turnout.

“The theme is relaxed,” Sogge wrote in an email. “Come as you are, bring a lawn chair or sit at one of the tables and enjoy a beautiful sunset evening.”
