Sammamish Home Grown Open House to be held on April 25

The city invites locals to share their preferences on the future of housing in Sammamish

The City of Sammamish invites locals to participate in an Open House for Sammamish Home Grown – A Plan for People, Housing, and Community – on April 25, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chamber.

The Sammamish Home Grown Open House is the next in a series of opportunities for the community to engage and learn more about the City’s current housing supply, the City’s goals and policies related to housing, and the purpose of a housing strategy plan. City staff and Planning Commissioners will be on hand to gather input and answer questions. Recently, the City conducted a survey of almost 500 residents regarding future housing preferences for the city Sammamish. The results of that survey are available athttp://bit.ly/HousingSurveyOutcomes.

The purpose and objective of Sammamish Home Grown – A Plan for People, Housing, and Community – is to guide the implementation of the goals and policies adopted in the Housing Element of the Comprehensive Plan. The strategies included in the plan will be developed around five categories that align with the goals and policies in the Housing Element of the Comprehensive Plan: Housing Supply and Variety, Neighborhood Vitality and Character, Housing Affordability, Housing for People with Special Needs, and Regional Collaboration. The City of Sammamish’s current Housing Strategy Plan was adopted in 2006. Sammamish Home Grown will serve as a work plan that helps staff transform policies into near-term actions and determine priorities for the preferred strategies.
