Sammamish man threatened over phone, accused of racism | Police blotter

A Sammamish man called police Feb. 18 to report a threatening phone call he received from a restricted number.

The following information was compiled from city of Issaquah and Sammamish police reports:

A Sammamish man called police Feb. 18 to report a threatening phone call he received from a restricted number.

The Sammamish man said the caller, who “sounded African American” asked the man if he would do work on his house in South Seattle.The local man told the caller that was out of his geographical area.

The caller then began making acquisitions of racism, dropping the “N” word several times. He asked the man if he only worked for rich white people, then told the man, “I’ve got your card, I know where you live,” followed by a profanity.

CAN FIRE

Sammamish police responded to a call Feb. 15 of two males attempting to light a tin can on fire.

When police arrived in the 1000 block of 218th Avenue Northeast they were unable to locate the suspects. The can was already extinguished when first responders arrived.

JACKET THEFT

A Sammamish woman called police Feb. 19 to report someone stole a $350 jacket from the backseat of her friend’s vehicle while she was dining at a local restaurant in the Saffron Shopping Center.

The victim wasn’t certain if the doors were locked, but there were no signs of forced entry.

VIOLATION

A Snoqualmie man was arrested Feb. 21 after police discovered he was driving his vehicle down 228th Avenue in Sammamish without a required Interlock alcohol detection device.

The man was initially pulled over for stopping his vehicle in the middle of an intersection at a red left turn arrow.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY

A Monroe couple housesitting in Sammamish called police Feb. 17 after noticing someone tried to break into the home they were watching.

The home in the 1600 block of 215th Place Southeast had a bent aluminum window screen, palm prints on the glass and a tipped over planter box. Thieves appeared to fail to gain entry to the home.
