Sammamish once again voted a ‘best city’

NerdWallet, a personal finance website, has named Sammamish one of the top 10 best cities in the nation.

NerdWallet analyzed more than 900 cities with populations of 25,000 to 100,000 and based its decision on the following factors:

  • Population and income growth
  • Percentage of population with health insurance coverage
  • Housing affordability
  • Poverty rates

NerdWallet ranked Sammamish number four. Sammamish grew nearly grew nearly 15 percent between 2009 and 2012. Although the city has a fairly high cost of living, incomes are also high, the website said, with workers making median incomes of over $75,000. The poverty rate is low at 2.1 percent.

“Sammamish is a great small city and is only getting better,” said NerdWallet analyst Divya Raghavan. “Incomes in the city grew by more than 6 percent between 2009 and 2012.”
