Police are investigating a robbery and assault that left a Sammamish teen with a “superficial” knife wound Tuesday night, King County Sheriff’s Office communications dispatch supervisor Glen Connolly said Wednesday morning.

The victim, 14, had stopped at the base of the Snake Hill trail in the 4200 block of Klahanie Drive Southeast around 9:25 p.m. to text someone when the suspect came out of the shadows holding a knife at his waist, according to Sgt. Jason Houck, King County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson.

The victim, a Sammamish resident, described the suspect as a 6-foot, 200-pound white male wearing a dark hoodie and dark cargo pants. The suspect might also have a beard.

The suspect demanded the victim’s wallet. After the victim handed it over, the suspect took $20, tossed it to the ground, slashed the victim’s forearm and ran off.

With assistance from King County Sheriff’s Air Support Unit and the K9 Unit, police searched for the suspect but were unable to locate him Tuesday night.

In the event this happens to someone, Houck advises them to give over whatever it is the person wants.

“Nothing you’re carrying is worth your life,” he said. “Everything is replaceable.”

He said to try and remember the person’s description and any distinguishing features. He also advises to make noise — as it will scar most people off.

The Sammamish Police Department is taking over the investigation. Originally, the case had been referred to King County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit.
