Sammamish scouts to recycle Christmas trees

As they have done for the past 24 years, the Boy Scout troops of Sammamish will again collect and recycle discarded Christmas trees in the area.

This drive is an annual service project for the local troops, as well as being their only fundraiser for the year.

Donations are a critical part of their ability to provide a quality program, consistent with the high ideals of scouting.

All donations are used right here on the Plateau to fund Scouting programs for six Plateau area troops.

This year trees will be picked up on Saturday, Jan. 3.

If you get a flyer on your door, then the Scouts can pick up your tree, which is then recycled by being chipped into mulch and donated.

The suggested donation is $17- 25 per tree.

Go to www.ScoutTreeDrive.org for more information.

Please place your donation in the envelope that was attached to the flyer.

Seal the envelope and place it on the bottom of the tree with a rubber band (also consider putting the envelope inside a small, clear, plastic bag in bad weather).

Make checks payable to “Boy Scouts of America”.

For safety reasons, the Scouts cannot accept trees with tinsel, flocked trees, trees with nails, artificial trees, wreathes with metal shape wires, or trees with any other metal attached.
