Sammamish seeks to fill deputy city manager, public works director positions

The city of Sammamish seeks to recruit a new public works director and deputy city manager.

The city has been operating with an interim public works director since the end of June, when former director and Assistant City Manager Laura Philpot took a job with the city of Maple Valley.

According to the city’s job post, the city is looking for “an accomplished leader with a history of performance in managing a public works department of comparable size and complexity.”

The public works director salary is between $112,391-$164,275, with benefits.

Deputy City Manager Lyman Howard will become city manager after Feb. 9, leaving his position vacant.

“The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record of achievement, extensive knowledge of city and municipal operations and a strong understanding of municipal finance and budgeting,” according to the city’s job posting.

A Sammamish deputy city manager can earn between $120,034-$187,376; the salary is dependent on the individuals qualifications. The position includes benefits.
