Sammamish to host Redheads world record attempt

Natural redheads from Sammamish and around the globe will attempt to break into the Guinness World Records book with the largest gathering of red-haired people on July 17.

Natural redheads from Sammamish and around the globe will attempt to break into the Guinness World Records book with the largest gathering of red-haired people on July 17.

The gathering, called Redheads and More Redheads Day, is sponsored by Sammamish Photographer Anne Lindsay, who is creating a photography book about natural redheads. The record-setting event will take place 2 p.m. Saturday, July 17, at Skyline High School stadium, 1122 228th Ave. S.E., Sammamish.

On April 29, Lindsay received approval from Guinness World Records to attempt to hold the largest gathering of people with naturally red hair. Currently no Guinness record of this category exists.

On Tuesday night, Lindsay sought the support of the Sammamish City Council, who are considering proclaiming July 17 as Sammamish Redheads Day.

To become a participant in the event, all natural redheads must register with Lindsay and Redheads and More Redheads Day event organizers.
