Seeking sculptures

There are those of us who can see art in everything. Be it an ink blot that looks like Mona Lisa, or an empty bottle that looks like a ballerina, the artistically gifted can make something interesting out of everyday objects.

This year a new contest as part of the SAMMI Awards will seek to recognize talented local artists.

Entries in the 2009 SAMMI AWARDS Scuplture Contest must use materials that are at least 50 percent reclaimed, recycled or found in the City of Sammamish.

It is open to anyone who lives or works in Sammamish, and the sculptures can be done by individuals or in groups.

Sculptures must not be bigger than 6 feet tall by 3 feet square, and must be able to be moved to city hall for judging on March 2.
