Shortlist of names for E15

The Issaquah School District has narrowed to five the list of suggested names for the District's 15th elementary school, located on the Sammamish Plateau, which will open its doors to students and staff in the fall of 2010.

The Issaquah School District has narrowed to five the list of suggested names for the District’s 15th elementary school, located on the Sammamish Plateau, which will open its doors to students and staff in the fall of 2010.

The shortlist is:

• Creekside

• Ebright Creek

• Lake Vista

• Opportunity

• Samena

On November 10, a community selection committee headed by principal Robin Earl presented the top five name recommendations for Elementary 15 to the Issaquah School Board. The District received more than 130 submissions during the open-call for name suggestions. The five names were chosen using factors such as historical and local significance, proximity of other public sites with similar names, and the ability to inspire a school community.

The School Board has asked the committee to reconvene to prioritize the list. With that information, board members will make the final selection at an upcoming business meeting.
