Six students receive music honors

Six Eastside residents were among 52 Lake Washington School District students named to 2015 All-Northwest or All-State ensembles.

Six Eastside residents were among 52 Lake Washington School District students named to 2015 All-Northwest or All-State ensembles.

Senior bass singer Jacob Berg of Issaquah was named to the 2015 Washington Music Educators Association (WMEA) All-Northwest Concert Choir. Berg attends Eastlake High School.

Freshman violinist Sophia Hwang of Sammamish, sophomore french horn player Ryan Saathoff of Sammamish, and senior violinist Jennifer Yeh of Sammamish were named to the 2015 WMEA All-Northwest Orchestra. Hwang attends Redmond High School, Saathoff attends Eastlake, and Yeh attends the STEM school.

Senior alto singer Catherine Hatlelid of Sammamish was named to the 2015 WMEA All-State Symphonic Choir. Hatlelid attends Eastlake.

Sophomore trombonist William Ronneburg of Sammamish was named to the 2015 WMEA All-State Symphony Orchestra. Ronneburg attends Eastlake.

Each of the students will perform at the conclusion of the 2015 National Association for Music Education (NAfME) Northwest Division Conference on Feb. 15, 2015, in Spokane. All-State choirs and ensembles consist of students from across Washington, while All-Northwest groups draw on students from Washington, Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and Oregon.
