SR 900 to close for weekend in Issaquah

Drivers should expect delays along SR 900 from Aug. 28 through Aug. 31, as crews close lanes to replace a culvert under the highway.

Lanes will be closed starting at 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28 and the road will be completely closed to traffic on Saturday night while construction crews replace a culvert at Clay Pit Creek, just south of Talus Drive.

Flaggers will alternate traffic on SR 900 between Talus Drive and SE 95th Street between 8 p.m. Friday and 8 p.m. Saturday and from 8 a.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday. On Saturday the road will be closed in both directions between Talus Drive and SE May Valley Road. Only local traffic will be allowed through until 8 a.m. Sunday.

Suggested detours during the work include I-90, Sunset Way, Newport Way SW, Front Street S, Issaquah-Hobart Road SE and SE May Valley Road.

At the same time utility crews will be relocating lines near the culvert. If this work can’t be completed in time the weekend closure will be postponed until mid-September, according to the city of Issaquah. Drivers should also plan for another weekend of closures in early September when crews replace the culvert at the west fork tributary to Tibbett’s Creek just south of Talus Drive.
