Those seeking a commercial driver license or commercial learner permit within the state must prove their citizenship or permanent residency beginning Sept. 1, according to a state press release.

The new requirement is due to the state’s mandatory compliance with federal law.

Commercial drivers will not have to present this proof until their next license renewal or other action that requires a change to their record.
