Eager to contribute to the outpouring of generosity and support from the people of Washington to the victims of the Haiti earthquake, Sunset Elementary School on the West Lake Sammamish Parkway held a “Kids for Haiti Bake Sale” last Friday afternoon.

The selling of tasty treats is always a good way to generate a lot of interest, but even the most optimistic teacher or parent would have been amazed at the result.

The bake sale, held at Sunset and Matthew’s Thriftway Market in Bellevue, raised $4,164.

“This was an incredible response from Sunset families on such a short notice!” said organizer Marie-Christine Longo in the Sunset newsletter.

The money, and other donations, will be distributed through the American Red Cross, Partners in Health and World Vision.
