Suspicious ‘garbagemen’ arrested after background check | Sammamish Police Blotter Oct. 24 – Oct. 30

The blotter consists of Sammamish police officers’ accounts of crimes and other incidents in the city. Persons arrested are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

Oct. 15

STOLEN GENERATOR: At 9:03 a.m., police responded to a reported theft at the 23800 block of SE 33rd St. The resident reported a 7500-watt generator, valued at $900, was stolen from the side of his house. The victim spoke with a neighbor who had surveillance cameras on his house. Looking at the video, the neighbor spotted an unknown SUV that circled the cul-de-sac at approximately 4:30 a.m. that morning. A man wearing a rain coat walked up the neighbor’s driveway and attempted to open two doors of the neighbor’s vehicles. Since the vehicles were locked, the suspect went away.

Oct. 17

RUN OFF THE ROAD: At 8:07 a.m., police responded to a non-injury collision at the 2100 block of 228 Ave. SE. The driver reported a car moved into her lane, pushing her off the road and into a street light pole. A DOL search showed the driver as driving with a suspended license and a with license restriction of an ignition interlock device, which her car did not have.

SUSPICIOUS GARBAGEMEN: At 8:47 p.m., police responded to a report of a suspicious truck arriving at a home for sale at the 400 block of 222 Ave. SE. Though the home was vacant, the two men in the vehicle said they were there to pick up garbage. A background search on both men showed they each had outstanding criminal warrants. They were arrested, with one booked into SCORE Jail and the other booked into Kent Jail.

Oct. 23

SMASH AND GRAB: At 4:21 p.m., police responded to a smash-and-grab car prowl at the Sammamish Landing parking lot, located at the 4600 block of E. Lake Sammamish Parkway NE. A wallet was stolen. Credit cards were used at the Fred Meyer in Redmond.

Oct. 24

DIAMOND RING STOLEN: A resident at the 21000 block of SE 5th St. reported a diamond ring that was hidden under dinner plates in her kitchen was stolen sometime between Oct. 1 and Oct. 9.

Oct. 25

IDENTITY THEFT: At 9:17 a.m., a resident at the 2100 block of 272 Way SE reported fraudulent activity through his Bank of America account.

THREATENING PHONE CALL: At 1:10 p.m., a resident at the Bordeaux Condominiums at the 700 block of 241 Lane SE reported receiving a phone call from someone claiming they had the reporting party’s daughter. They demanded money and threatened they would begin cutting her fingers off.

Oct. 26

AUTO THEFT: At 11:30 a.m., a resident at the 23800 block of SE 32nd St. reported their vehicle had been stolen. The car was unlocked with the key fob left in the vehicle. The vehicle was later recovered off Southeast Issaquah-Fall City Road.

Oct. 27

CAR PROWL: At 7:28 a.m., police responded to reports of a car prowl at the Tanglewood Apartments, located at the 25000 block of SE Klahanie Blvd. The passenger window was broken, a backpack and tools were taken from the front seat of the vehicle and an air compressor was taken from an unsecured truck bed.

IDENTITY THEFT: At 9:10 a.m., a resident at the 20700 block of SE 3rd Way reported an unknown suspect attempted to open a credit card in their name with Bank of America.

CAR PROWLS AT HIGHLAND GARDENS: At 1:01 p.m., police responded to a car prowl at the Highland Gardens Apartments, located at the 4500 block of Klahanie Dr. SE. A car stereo was stolen from an unlocked vehicle. Part of the vehicle dash was found in a nearby parking lot. The suspect was possibly seen in the nearby lot by a security camera. At 8:39 p.m., police responded to another car prowl at the same location. A key was broken off into the driver’s side front door of a vehicle and tools were taken.

Oct. 28

FAKE WORK: A resident at the 23300 block of SE 27th Place was contacted by a person from out of the country to complete work in the area. They were provided a check that was fraudulent.

CAR PROWL: At 2:41 p.m., police responded to a car prowl at the 4600 block of E. Lake Sammamish Parkway NE. The rear driver’s side window was broken. Multiple “high-end” purses, bags and electronics were reported stolen.

UNSAFE TO DRIVE: At 7:34 p.m., police responded to a driver operating their vehicle in a dangerous manner at the 21600 block of SE 24th St. Police determined the driver was unsafe to operate a motor vehicle and impounded the car. The driver was sent for a re-exam of their driver’s license.

Oct. 29

STOLEN BIKE: At 7:29 a.m., a bicycle was reported stolen from a locked, detached garage at the Boulder Creek Apartments, located at the 4400 block of Issaquah-Pine Lake Road.

CALL OFF THE AUCTION: At 10:42 a.m., staff at Public Storage, located at 23000 NE 8th St., reported they opened a unit to auction its contents and discovered the unit was empty and the security tag was tampered with. Management suspects a delinquent renter.

DUI: At 11:02 p.m., a driver was arrested for DUI at the 1900 block of 223 Ave. SE. The driver crossed the road’s center line and was driving on a flat tire.
