Weather alert in effect through next week

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a weather alert for Western Washington through next week due to the hot weather expected to settle into the area.

According to the NWS, temperatures are expected to reach and stay at above normal highs through the middle of next week. Highs will range from 85 to 95 degrees. This puts temperatures at near record highs and will be the warmest weather of the year.

The hot weather has also increased fire warning levels, while Eastern Washington has a ‘red flag alert’, the highest in fire warnings.

The NWS said the hot weather is likely to lower the air quality as well.
